Amulet

She looked at Amber bitterly and sighed. Why was she here? This girl had gotten her lost in the forest. All they had was a simple task. Go get the amulet buried at the bottom of the lake. The girl would magic it out, or whatever she was doing to get it out, and as the warrior, she would protect the girl from the forest dwellers. It was a pretty hard mission to screw up but somehow this girl managed to do it.
"Look…I'm sorry." Amber said for the hundredth time today as Fae sat down to catch her breath. "I'll continue on ahead and see what's beyond that overpass…just…stay here I guess."
"No, it's going to be night soon. We'll just check later." Amber started to walk.
"You're gonna fall into a sinkhole or get even more lost or something and I'm gonna have to come find you!" She shouted after Amber but Amber never slowed. Fae punched the ground and jogged to catch up with her, catching her by the arm and spinning her around." Do you know what happens in this forest at night? The-" She didn't get a chance to finish her sentence. Amber's eyes widened and she stepped backwards and fell onto her back on an upturned root. Fae whipped around sword out and chopped a sky sentry out of the air. She saw one coming toward Amber from behind and whipped out a dagger spinning it out and catching a creature between the eyes. It fell like a rock and Fae pulled her other sword from her back, dual wielding now and started chopping the creatures from the air. When she was done, black blood was pooled in different parts of the forest floor and seeping into the ground. She looked up to see Amber staring at her, blood splattered across her face she was holding a glowing blue orb hovering an inch above her right hand. She closed her hand into a fist slowly and the orb disappeared.
"What did I tell you about going into the forest alone?!" Fae yelled and saw Amber flinch under her glare.
"I just…I'm sorry. I screw up a lot. I get it. I just wanted to fix my mistake and do something right for once. I'm…sorry. What can I do to make everything all right again?"
"You can stop almost getting killed for one thing." Amber grimaced and Fae noticed for the first time that she had gotten hurt when she fell. Amber started to get up but fell back down as she placed her weight on her right foot. The only thing wrong with Fae was that the undersides of her arms were scratched up. "Come on, let's head back." She picked Amber up as if she were a child and carried her back to the fire they had lit. She placed her down carefully next to her pack went to wash her hands at the nearby creek. Nothing that could harm them would come within 100 feet of the creek so they were safe here. She grabbed a fresh cloth from her travel bag along with an ointment and some fresh water from the creek. She walked over to Amber and knelt down. Amber had tears streaming down her face. Fae said nothing but dipped the cloth into the water and cleaned the sky sentry blood off Amber's face.
